CONSUMER-DRIVEN HEALTH PLANS
More and more employers are looking to partner with their employees
to address rising healthcare costs by adopting some form of "consumer-driven
health plan." As you can see from the chart below, these health
plans are just beginning to show up on the radar (< 1% of all
plans in 2004). But by 2010, estimates are that they will account
for almost 25% of all plans.

Consumer-driven health plans, which can be customized for your
company, may include a combination of Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs),
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Reimbursement Arrangements
(HRAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). These accounts either
help employees pay for health expenses not covered by insurance
or to build a fund with which they can purchase health insurance
(or services) directly for themselves and their families.
